The main goals of AR are to analyze changes in captured camera frames and correctly align virtual data to the camera scene based on tracking results.
There are several approaches to AR tracking:
Маркерная технология | SLAM | Использование GPS | |
---|---|---|---|
+ | ▫If the marker image is prepared correctly, the marker-based AR content provides a quality experience, and the tracking is very stable, the AR content does not shake. | ||
▫ Simplicity and clarity in use | |||
▫ Lots of use cases to improve user experience | ▫Once content is placed in a room/surface, it becomes more flexible to use than marker-based alternatives | ▫Enables geo-targeting in tourist hotspots without requiring expensive outdoor banners | |
- | ▫When the mobile camera moves away from the marker, AR disappears and the trigger photo needs to be scanned again | ||
▫Scanning will not work if markers reflect light in certain situations | |||
▫The marker should have strong borders/contrast between black and white to make tracking more stable. | |||
▫A smooth color transition will make recognition impossible. | ▫The best experience requires the surface to have a texture for computer vision to recognize it well | ▫It is difficult to get an accurate GEO experience on mobile due to the lack of accuracy of sensors in phones. |
The marker approach to recognition is one of the most popular and easy to use. AR markers/triggers are a QR-code or image that must be unique and recognizable so that the camera can correctly identify them in different conditions.
You can use a QR code as a trigger for printed materials, such as plain business cards, contract menus, sites that are not suitable for stable Image Tracking recognition.
